LEAD

Used in products for the home and workplace for many years prior to the 1980s, lead is a major concern to homeowners, employers and property managers whose buildings were built before that time.

Lead is a highly toxic metal that can cause a wide range of health problems. When taken into the body, lead toxicity impacts the nervous system and the cardiovascular system, and in some cases the reproductive systems. It is also commonly associated with learning disabilities in children.

Of course the degree of exposure to lead, combined with the quantities to which you are exposed help determine if you will be affected and to what degree.

It is important to remember that children are more likely to be at risk from lead exposure and to note that research shows the primary sources for exposure to be:

  • Deteriorating lead-based paint

  • Lead contaminated dust

  • Lead contaminated soil

  • Renovations

As a home or business owner, you can prevent lead exposure by detecting the sources of lead in your home or office and determining if these could or should be removed. Your local health department will be able to supply you with the name of a lead testing company in your area.

To ensure your safety, DO NOT remove any lead yourself. Only a licensed lead abatement company should perform this work. Synatech, Inc. is just that company. Our years of experience in addressing environmental concerns combined with our professional staff make the removal of lead from your premises safe and easy.
